Seaside, Oregon

We took a trip to Seaside, Oregon which is a small beach community about 4 hours south from our home in Washington.  The weather was cold and rainy when we first arrived, but the sun eventually showed his face and we had a great time enjoying the outdoors.  We visited Canon Beach about 5 miles down the road, Ecola National Park, and of course spent most of our time in Seaside.  We swam everyday in the hotel pool, but also took a dip in the freezing ocean.  It was so nice to get out of town for a while and enjoy the beautiful Oregon coast.

The kids rode this Carousel about 10 times in a 3 day span.  So cute.

Hanging out in the hotel room.  Johnny watching the rain fall the evening we got there.

Here we are on Canon Beach.  It was really windy and a bit chilly so we had the kids put on their warm hats.  It looks silly, but it only lasted a short while.

Shaine had to go into the water.  I went in too, but oh my goodness it was freezing. I'm always taking the pictures.

We couldn't get the kids off this sand hill.  It was a giant slide with a small stream of water rolling out to the ocean.  When it came time to clean them off poor Shaine had so much sand piled up inside her swimsuit it was impossible getting her completely cleaned off.  Thank goodness we brought 2 suits for her because somehow sand got in between the lining of her suit that wouldn't come out.  Her pink suit turned brown it was so bad.

There's a small aquarium down the road from our hotel and you can feed the seals.

The hotel we stayed in is the red one on the right.  The top left corner was our room and it had a beautiful view of the river, downtown, and the ocean.

The picture is a bit blurry, but both Johnny and Mike were smiling while they jumped in the pool together.

Here we are on the beach next to our hotel.  It was a bit windy, but there was sun and we were able to fly the kid's kites!! While we were in the ocean getting wet a large group of Seagulls ripped open our snack bag and ate all the kids Cheetos, and Mike's Jalapeno Chips.  Dang birds!!

I buried Johnny in the sand with the help of my little sidekick Shaine.

Here's Johnny with sand, boogers, and Cheetos all over his face.

The culprit who initiated the chip heist.

Johnny flying his kite that he picked out at the store.  He was so anxious and excited to fly his kite.  We're so proud of him.  He flew his kite for about 10 minutes which is pretty good for a 4 year old.  Poor Shaine screamed and cried when Mike pulled her kite out because she thought it would fly away. She flew it for about 1 minute before she yelled at us to put it away.

That's a pretty cool kite you picked out Johnny!!!  You look good flying it too!

Here's Shaine's beautiful kite that Mike and I took turns flying.

Me and my boy!!
