Grandpa's Birthday

We celebrated grandpa Dick's birthday this weekend up in Bellingham.  It was beautiful weather and the kids had a good time playing outdoors and with their cousins.  We are also very happy that grandpa loved his birthday gift...a new flag pole.  Happy Birthday grandpa!!

The other pictures of the kids were taken over the past few weeks.  I really need to do a toddler update before the kids start pre-school.  In 2 weeks Johnny and Shaine will be starting 2 days a week, 2 hours a day preschool.  We are in no hurry to push our children into full time preschool or other activities.  Since I have been taking classes for early childhood education I have learned that our society is in such a hurry to push children to grow up.  There are negative outcomes to pushing our children to do too much at a young age.  This includes placing them in school too early or getting them involved in too many activities including competition.  Children learn through play and that is exactly what we want for our kids...to be a child.
