NURSEMAIDS ELBOW

Never heard of this until Wednesday night when Mike and I had to take Shaine to the emergency room.  Both Johnny and Shaine were sitting on Mike's lap playing around when Shaine's arm got stuck between the two of them.  Mike said he heard a pop and then Shaine started to cry and couldn't move her arm.  She was in so much pain and we knew something was wrong so we took her to the hospital.  WHAT A TROOPER!!!!!  My little girl was so brave.  She sat in her hospital bed with her blanket and kitty and waited quietly for the nurse and doctor. I offered some crackers and water, but she told me she couldn't have anything until she saw the doctor...so freaking cute.  She couldn't move her arm, but she answered all the doctor's questions about the location of her pain.
Shaine had Nursemaids Elbow which is very common in children.  It's when the ligament in the arm gets relocated.  Because children's muscles and ligaments are not fully developed this condition  happens frequently.  Some cases are more extreme than other's, but Shaine had a mild case.
How do you fix it?  You pop it back into place.  The doctor gently pulled and twisted Shaine's arm and she felt it pop back into place.  Shaine didn't cry at all...I couldn't believe it.  The doctor said we need to wait about 20 minutes to see if she'll start using it.
Our next door neighbor Amber is a nurse at the same hospital and she just happen to be getting off of work that evening, and so she stopped in to see us.  She made funny balloons out of  medical gloves and before you know it Shaine was playing and moving her arm again!!
Our little Johnny was such a good boy.  He was with us the entire evening and he never complained.  We are so proud of him too.  He was being the supportive brother and was very concerned for his sister, although we couldn't get him to sit on the hospital bed with her.  We think he was scared he was going to get a shot or something of that nature.
You want to know something amazing about this whole evening?  It took us 1 hour from the time we arrived at the emegency room till the time we drove off in the car.  Yes...1 hour in the emergency room.  That's a record in my book!!  So thankful our baby girl is o.k. and to a huge thanks to the kind and wonderful staff at Providence Hospital.

Here's some pics of our visit to the Children's Museum from this past Tuesday.

This is what Johnny decided to do with his coins.  So silly.

Johnny cleaning his room

My Office

Piggy-Tails

Shaine's hair is now long enough to put into piggy-tails.  She looks so different with her hair pulled back.  She told me, "Mom, I look like Annie from Little Einsteins".  How freaking adorable.  Just love my babies.

This is Annie from Little Einsteins

The kids eating lunch with you know who under their table just waiting for some food to drop.

Dressed up nice for the day!

Shaine making another funny face with her tongue hanging out.  I don't know where she gets this?

I couldn't help myself.  I had to stop at the Disney store and pick up some new jammies for the kids.  They were so excited to put them on.

Johnny with his new shot-gun from a local garage sale.  He's only allowed to shoot stuffed toys, monsters, and wood.  He's been so good not shooting at his sister.

Monday I decided to spend the day just having fun with my babies.  We went to Elevated Sports, then visited Country Village on our way to see daddy at work.  It was such an awesome time!!

The foam pit is their favorite!!

They were playing dodge-ball.  It was so fun watching them laugh at each other and chasing one another on the trampolines.
